World Robot Olympiad 2025

The World Robot Olympiad is the world's largest youth robotics competition, attracting more than 25,000 teams from over 80 countries annually. Founded in 2004, WRO targets students from age 8 through to university level across four competitive categories: Regular featuring standardised LEGO-based robot missions, Open for self-designed robots, Football for robot soccer, and Future Innovators for research project presentations. Each year the Regular Category features a new themed challenge with previous themes covering sustainable food production, smart cities, and ocean exploration. WRO is deeply embedded in school education systems across East and Southeast Asia. Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore consistently produce top finishers. The annual world finals rotate between host countries and typically draws over 500 teams over three competition days.
