Covariant Robots

Covariant is a US AI robotics company founded in 2017 by researchers from OpenAI and UC Berkeley, developing the Covariant Brain — a universal AI model for robotic manipulation. The Covariant Brain enables robots to pick and handle items they have never seen before, enabling SKU-agnostic order fulfilment automation across e-commerce, 3PL, and distribution environments. In 2024, Covariant was acquired by Amazon, with its AI models and research team joining Amazon's robotics division. The RFM-1 foundation model represents Covariant's contribution to general-purpose robotic manipulation AI.
