Agility Robotics Digit
Agility Robotics Digit is a bipedal humanoid robot designed for warehouse logistics and last-mile delivery — the first humanoid robot to be commercially deployed in an Amazon warehouse at scale. Standing 175cm tall, Digit walks on two legs enabling it to navigate spaces designed for humans, climb stairs, open doors, and handle packages in environments that wheeled robots cannot access. Amazon invested in Agility Robotics in 2023 and is deploying Digit in its fulfilment centres for tote moving and package handling tasks. Digit represents the first wave of humanoid robots entering real commercial logistics deployment — a landmark in robotics history.
Boston Dynamics Stretch
Boston Dynamics Stretch is a mobile robot designed for autonomous truck unloading and depalletising in warehouse and distribution centre environments, capable of moving up to 800 boxes per hour with payloads up to 23 kg per box. Using a custom gripper combining suction and mechanical elements alongside computer vision for irregular box identification, Stretch navigates autonomously to truck trailers and unloads mixed-SKU shipments onto conveyor belts or pallets without requiring uniform packaging. Developed by Boston Dynamics — makers of Spot and Atlas — Stretch entered commercial deployment in 2022 with DHL as a launch customer. It targets the physically demanding truck unloading bottleneck that most general-purpose AMRs cannot address. Enterprise pricing estimated at $300,000–$400,000 per unit through Boston Dynamics.
