Anki Overdrive

Anki Overdrive is an AI-powered slot-car racing system where small robotic race cars drive autonomously on modular track tiles — competing against each other using real AI, firing virtual weapons, and responding intelligently to race conditions. The cars use optical sensors to detect track position and each other, enabling genuine autonomous AI opponents that learn and adapt. Anki built Overdrive before creating Cozmo and Vector. Originally Anki's flagship product, Digital Dream Labs acquired the Anki brand and continues selling Overdrive sets on Amazon. One of the best-reviewed toy racing systems with active secondary market and DDL-maintained platform.

Sphero BB-8

Sphero BB-8 was the official app-enabled droid toy based on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens character — a two-part rolling ball robot that mimics BB-8's signature rolling locomotion with a magnetically-hovering head. Controlled via the Star Wars-licensed BB-8 app, it responded to voice commands, displayed holographic videos, played Star Wars sounds, and could be patrolled autonomously. One of the best-selling licensed robot toys of all time, selling millions of units. Now discontinued as a new retail product, though secondary market units are widely available. Included as a historically significant entertainment robot and for secondary market search completeness.
