Honda UNI-CUB β is a self-balancing personal mobility device — a single-seat, rider-operated unicycle-type vehicle that balances autonomously on a single wheel cluster using Honda's omni-directional drive system. The rider leans to steer, and the UNI-CUB responds by moving in any horizontal direction including sideways. Designed for indoor corporate and museum environments, the UNI-CUB β was trialled in museum visitor mobility and corporate campus transport. Honda discontinued commercial development of the UNI-CUB in favour of its walking assist exoskeleton programme, but the technology influenced subsequent personal mobility research.
